Hi guys,

U know when you put the email address down in the "to" box in the Message app, it will automatically switch to iMessage or just normal SMS, right? I'm just quite confused cos I put in my friend's email just now, and instead of switching to blue (iMessage), it remained Green. :(. It's an email, and I'm pretty sure he has iMessage on his iDevice, so why did it not change to blue?

The same thing happened the other day, when I input my uncle's phone number (he also uses an iPhone 4, iOS 5, but iMessage was not turned on on his iPhone) into the Message app and instead of sending as a normal SMS, it switched to Blue. After a while, it realised my uncle did not have iMessage and it switched to green again. It took about 5 minutes for the message to be delivered :-s. Why can't it just be Green right at the beginning because I clearly input a mobile number and why did it take so long to switch back to normal SMS :(?

Thanks all for your help,
