Why is it that even when I have all programs closed, and minimal widgets running, my memory widget still tells me that I only have >100mb of memory free? (out of 768) when earlier, with applications open, it will say like 200-300mb free

This has never been a problem for me in the past, but ever since i got this widget I've been worried about memory leaks (and i've got rid of half my widgets ;))

cheers for any help

How much of your RAM does activity monitor say is inactive. I have 512MB and it says I only have 38MB free with itunes and firefox running yet Menu Meters tells me I have 217MB free which happens to be the same amount of RAM as the inactive and free totals added together.

I have that too. What isn't used gets swapped to the hard drive after a while. Restart and see what it says.... that cleans ALL RAM possible.

Right. Nice one. :)

Yeah I haven't noticed any "major" slowdown. Though sometimes some animation-heavy websites take longer than they used to to load (eg. http://www.heavy.com)

I had an answer, but I've forgotten it now.
