I bought the VGA connector to use on my external monitor. However, it doesn't seem to do anything when I hook it up. I tried it with the dock and still nothing. What am I missing here?

I only got output to my projector with Keynote and a picture slideshow. I'm assuming a movie would work - but we didn't have one on there at the time to try.

It doesn't output "everything". Apparently there is code for developers to output certain apps to the port.... but time will tell on that.

Right, just like the video cables for the iPhone and iPod Touch, only videos - like from YouTube and movies - get output. The iPad added Keynote and the slide show. An app has to be programmed specifically for video out to work.

One of the reviews I read said not all movies will work via VGA either... Seems to be a drm issue. Otherwise, just to agree, the app you're running has to support it. The vga does not mirror the screen. This can be a good thing for some apps, so you can use keynote as a slide controller, and the VGA shows the slide show.

Bummer. This is why I bought the VGA cable and the dock. Oh well. Looks like they're both getting returned when I get the chance.
