Genius!? Nah, Ives is not a Genius. His products are fair, but he designs form over function. He's no Genius. His attitude to take ports and features off all devices so they can make it a closed system is disturbing and useless.

I would like to know your opinion on where he ranks in the worlds top 10 industrial designers then, if not no.1?

I have respect for Ives Industrial Design, but my main gripe with him is stuff like the MacBook. It's design does not allow the hardware to fully function at peak capacity. That is a design flaw on his part. Ives does wonderful design, but sadly he doesn't design for the needs of the hardware he is assembling. It's a bit like buying a Lamborghini and only being able to go 65 miles per hour!

Since I don't have any insight into fellow Industrial Designers, I couldn't guess as to how to rank him, so I won't.

Exactly, he is not a Genius, he is the Chief Design Officer, he is not there to import your photos from your old computer.
And that is where he falls short. He IS NOT a Genius Industrial Designer. He doesn't design for the hardware specs as it relates to the MacBook or he'd have designed better cooling. Razer has designed a vapor chamber to aide in cooling for it's i9 chip laptop, why couldn't Apple!!??? Ives takes no responsibility for that error either. IMHO he sucks! He's a poor Industrial Designer. Wrapping a pretty chassis around a processor IS NOT proper Industrial Design!!

A Rare Look at Design Genius Jony Ive: The Man Behind the Apple Watch. http://www.vogue.com/1415025/apple-...et&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=pockethits
A perfect picture of Ives resting on his laurels.

Apparently your opinion does not align with many others who are in a lot better position to judge.
Your comments should be more targeted towards the engineering team.

Its like saying the designers who design a car didn't specify the right radiator for the cooling of the engine........... here is a hint, the people who design the aesthetics and ergonomics of a car do not design the engine as well. They integrate the solution provided by the engineers which was based upon briefing and targeted solutions.

The macbookpro is not a workstation or gaming laptop so suck up the anger and buy a Razer.
