Ok, this thing is beautiful- almost as much as my macbook pro... Here are my top love/hates so far...

Things I love:
- Size/Feel
- Screen resolution
- User Interface
- Speed
- Keyboard (didn't think I would- I'm listing as a like because I think my typing will improve)
- Video/Ipod- ipod doesn't have lyrics though :(

Things I hate (I've had a Redmond smart phone for 3+ years):
- No sync with exchange - that means for the first time in 3 years I have to use a cradle to sync my contacts, calendar, and work email; it's like going back to the dark ages
- No bluetooth modem - I can't use the phone as a modem for my mac when I travel. Something even CHEAP nokias do... This might be the dealbreaker as I don't want to pay $50/month on another phone that would do this
- No copy/paste- More typing...
- No user downloadable apps- No games - sigh!
- Safari doesn't save ID/PWds - More typing...
- Even when locked, it displays missed calls without unlocking (not very private)
- Activation took 8 hours for phone to work...
- Not crazy about the automatic resizing in safari- would prefer the ability to save a preference
- No ichat

Hard decision ahead of me- sexy factor (good) - vs. functionality (bad)

my suggestion:
wait another month. :)

So return and see how much functionality has been added in a month or keep...

Oh another hate...
- No bluetooth syncing with itunes! My ericson did that 5 years ago!

It's quite amazing. Doesn't ANYONE read the CONTRACTS they sign?!?!

Everyone and their brother is bashing about not being able to TETHER their laptop... First it's EDGE for goodness sakes... it would be painfully slow BUT and MUCH MORE IMPORTANT ... You'd be in VIOLATION OF YOUR CONTRACT if you did it.

The terms a very clear... The $20 iPhone data plan DOES NOT allow any form of tether AT ALL. Thinking about it... Show me ANY CARRIER that lets you tether for $20 a month.

Don't bother... You won't be able to find one.

Now if you want to reword your grievance that AT&T doesn't provide for a more robust data plan (at a HIGHER PRICE) for the iPhone then by all means. And I recommend that you do... Since the iPhone **should** be permitted to provide tethering support... but without AT&T having a plan for it Apple can't in good faith offer the feature - they know you'd be violating your contract if you were to use it.

I don't mind 2.5g given a lack of 3g (and to be honest, I had crappy experience with 3g carriers in Europe).

Oops, I guess I've been in violation for years then... I've been doing this with my 8125 for a while...

No I don't read my contract... but I don't want a phone telling me what I can and can't do...
