Oy, I'm not sure all of that is a good idea. I guess that he is going to be backpedalling on some of this stuff real soon.

Professional opinion.

He's delusional and arrogant with a mixture of ambition and ignorance.

Never again .... Forget the #Hype it's all #Bullpoo

And I would not trust this company based on dealings as a customer and hearing from first hand sources of what they actually think of their customers and treat staff ... They are Contempt manifested as a company.

Part of Motorola's MotoMaker program for the first-gen Moto X included the ability to already have your phone signed in to your Google account when you got it. I don't see this OnePlus deal being much different from that.

i didnt see anything new in this article. Others are already doing or thinking about doing. Oneplus is just doing the same.

carl pei: Android users tend to be less attached to one particular Android brand than say Apple fans...

:D :D

one plus plan to store your biometric data themselves.

All other finger print readers store that data on secure areas of the device not in the cloud or in their servers.

Likewise one plus want to store and therefore have ability to access to your personal Bank, CC and other details.

Basically one plus want to own and store / control every bit of information on you - which goes far beyond what Google and Apple currently keep.

It screams of being open to abuse.

well, althought they (or pei) plan to store biometric data to their servers, it is hard to believe that they actually will do that.

Legally I'm not sure they would even be allowed if they operated in the U.S. or Europe but give they operate outside of the jurisdiction I am not sure I'd like to take that gamble. I just have to read through Carl Pei's responses to people on their forum when someone disagrees and you can see the pure level of contempt and arrogance that they harbour to their customers.

Whe he responds to people on their forum with "Get #HYPE or GTFO..." and worse, can you imagine the outcry and lambasting from the press / media there would be if that was someone high up in Apple, Google, Facebook etc. They would have been given the sack.

LOL ... In true One Plus style - they are experts in the backpedal :D

Carl Pei backpedalling said:
"We would never do anything to compromise the trust people have placed in us"....

Poster on forum - "I'm not sure that VR launch is a great way to go tbh"
Carl Pei's response - "Who cares ? Get #HYPE or GTFO" .......

Yep Carl, you do nothing to compromise the trust people have placed in you ........ ;)

When are you next running a 'hot photo chick contest' ? or a 'spam your friends for the hope of an invite' challenge ?

I can see in a twisted way the logic to instill brand loyalty is a good idea, yet what he proposes is kind of looney.

“because we own the end-to-end user experience on e-commerce, we can capture their address, their credit card information, even their biometric information.”
I'd rather not store that level of detail on their servers.
