A simple way to get high transfer rate for SSD for Mac Pro

hi, previously I experimented with a WD My Passport Pro Thunderbolt drive. It comes with 2 2.5 mechanical drive and I replaced it with my Samsun 840 Evo 1tb SSD.

I ran apple raid on it, but I only managed to get it to run at around 300-400, looks like the limit is the controller on the my passport Pro enclosure. But it is still a very cheap way to get a dual 2.5 thunderbolt enclosure.

Now I'm using 2 seagate go flex thunderbolt as a raid drive. I think price wise it is good for the performance except it is not portable.

Result on the left is actually the dual go flex, the one on the right is the internal apple 1TB

Xbench is a really crappy Mac benchmark app written by guys who haven't updated their website or the app since 2006. You'd be better off using AJA System Test or diglloyd DiskTester.

Quickbench is probably the best performance meter you can find on OS X. It shows across all file sizes starting at 4k.
