Hello. I was wondering if anyone made a switch from an umbp to the new iMac 27"?

I am a student currently. I realized that most of my work is at my desk mostly (documents/photo-editing/small occasions of playing Steam through Bootcamp).

I hardly take the laptop to my classes that much lately.

I wonder if anyone completely made the switch from a laptop to a desktop?

I'd like to hear everyone's opinion about this.

Thanks in advance for you response! :)

Hi,

I brought a 15" Uni MBP in Dec 08 and used it with my 24" monitor while at home, but like it stayed at home most of the day and did not move.

End of last summer I decided to go for a iMac. Sold my MBP and was within 5 mins of ordering a 24" iMac when i read the rumor of a new iMac. As I play the odd game I wanted a good GFX card in it.

I am glad I waited.. I got a i7 iMac and I love it :) Games play great in Boot Camp..

Well worth it. Hope this helps

Desktop's bigger.

I did something very similar to you last week. I had a 13" MacBook that I got back in June of 2006. It never left my desk except when I went home for a few days at a time and once to do a presentation this past semester. I decided to pick up a 21.5" iMac and I don't miss the portability of the MacBook at all. My iMac is virtually flawless (no yellow tint, flickering) with the exception of an issue when I leave it in sleep mode overnight but other than that it's great!

I bought an i7 to replace my 17" unibody but the 3 iMacs I received all had issues so I decided to wait a few months and then maybe order again after there "teething pains" were over.

At this point though think I have decided just to keep my laptop. I only take it out of my office occasionally but when I do its nice to have. Also I think that a 27" screen is just a hair too big. I have a 22" IPS that I can see everything on the screen without moving my head, just my eyes. With the 27" I had to move my head just a little to see the corners and sides of the screen.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and opinions! :)

I do apologize for the grammar. It is suppose to be "your" than "you."
