A month or so ago I bought two usb-a to lightning cables from the Apple store since both the ones at home and in my car were fraying.
I now have this problem where the phone keeps connecting and disconnecting even though the cable in properly plugged in at both ends. I captured this on a screen recording here:
If you look at the battery icon it shows as if the phone is being repeatedly connected/disconnected from charging. I don’t even have to be moving the phone for this to happen. It happens even when it’s plugged in away from me and I’m sleeping.
At first I thought the cables may be defective so I took one of them to the Genius Bar but couldn’t replicate the issue while I was there.
This problem happens with different cables in the car (where usb end plugs into car directly) and at home (where usb end plugs into a charger).
I’m completely perplexed by this and not sure what to do. I’m thinking maybe I should just buy an Anker charger and cable and see if that works. Unfortunately, I left the old frayed cables at the Apple store for recycling so I can’t go back to those.
Has anyone had such a problem? Do you have any tips for finding out where the problem is?
