Wireless battery charging (over the air) is the final challenge to conquer. Everything else already has a wireless alternative.

And I'd hope they would advertise it as a 'wireless laptop', seeing as there's only the one port :D

It is too expensive for the wireless resource (radio frequency) and the wifi card is not capability to switch fast enough for received very width frequency in a time.
The bluetooth can not transfer data too fast due to not enough channel for many devices use in sometime.

As seen on this link: http://www.apple.com/macbook/wireless/
Is Apple trying to advertise the MacBook as a (almost) wireless laptop? Is it even possible that we could see complete wireless capabilities in the future?
Yes, they are trying to advertise it as almost wireless (save the need for charging). No need to look into the future for a complete wireless laptop, back in 2009/2010 Dell had the Latitude z600 laptop with wireless USB and charging. It was pretty much a dud, as you don't really see that nowadays, but it was definitely neat. It still had ports on it, but I guess the aim was to give you the option of never having to plug in. Here's a review of it http://www.laptopmag.com/reviews/laptops/dell-lattitude-z600#
