do not, i repeat, DO NOT do what i did.

recently (7/30) i ordered a new 21.5 i3 3.06 model from apple.com

i went ahead and got sucked into the free ipod thing and whatnot. but i also chose the "magic mouse + magic trackpad" option.

DO NOT DO THIS!

this changes you imac from "standard configuration" to CTO/BUILT TO ORDER.
SO now it's 4 business days later, and i'm still awaiting even a prepared for shipment status. whereas, if i had ordered the imac, and then added the magic trackpad to my cart separately, my order would have arrived today, tomorrow at the latest.

just something for all potential buyers to consider. and since there's no price difference no matter what way you order the trackpad, i'd suggest the other way.

Same thing happened to me but. Order a standard imac 21.5 but added a battery charger. Now my system is coming from china!

Thanks for the Tip.

I also read that a few folks have ordered their wanted "base configuration" iMac and later in time, they plan to buy their wanted battery charger, track pad or ???? customization later. Possibly at their local Future Shop / Best Buy store - if its located closer to them. Thus, allowing them to get their iMac chassis much faster as well..

If wondering, I ordered the iMac 21.5 I3 with 3.2 CPU with included customization and my estimated ETA is Aug 16. As long as it gets here before Aug 24, I can wait. Some things in life are worth waiting for.....

.

I ordered and changed to i7 on July 31.

It just changed to prepare for shipment today. I am guessing since it too this long to prepare, it might just arrive on the last delivery day. Damn Long!
