So this is why the battery life is surprisingly good also looking at power consumption results its roughly ~2watts lower across the board. This information also points to the A11 not outperforming this in terms of multicore performance although it probably will surpass it in singlecore performance. I'm still curious with what exactly has changed in the A10X gpu to gain a 40% increase in performance.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. A11 is Apple's "tock" cycle.

A11 should be Apple's first SoC that ditches Imagination's IP. I would be surprised if Apple didn't take this opportunity to overhaul the CPU as well. Apple indicated they would stop using Imagination IP by 2019. That means every Apple product in production in 2019 including iPod and HomePod need to be Imagination-free.
