For anyone wondering what sort of differences we can expect in the chips in the 11” Pros vs the new Air... Watch this video which compares A10X vs A12...

I think we can safely assume we are going to see some similar results, overall the AIR will perform better in some tasks but the PRO will perform better in others, but I can imagine the difference being more marginal than what’s in this video.

It’s too much guessing for me. I’ll sit and wait for real numbers from testing in a few weeks.

I’ll just wait until the benchmarks come out, thank you very much. :)

Usually single core performance is more noticeable in day to day usage, so the Air should feel 'snapper', though at this point I'm not sure the difference will even be noticeable. For really heavy games or video rendering the A12X/Z might pull back a bit, particularly with the higher TDP for sustained performance, though again, the chips are now so competent I'm not sure it will make much of a difference with the currently available iPad catalogue of games.

Also worth noting other things like the improved neural engine and ISP will contribute to better/ faster results out of certain tasks and applications on the Air as well. Other factors like extra RAM in the iPad Pro and possibly faster storage (?) will feed into the overall experience too.

I know it's a CPU comparison and I know some people can't tell the difference but I really like having 120hz. Never going back to 60 :D

Yeah, have to say this is something I am loving on my iPad Pro, I am not sure if I need it on my phone, but once I sit down after a long day of working on the friggin awful Windows laptop from work, it is truly refreshing to come to my iPad Pros 120hz screen.

At the end of the day, the Air and Pro will probably have a similar life span, I think the 6GB RAM in the Pro will help it run better in 4-5 years time, but by then I am pretty sure all of us would have moved on to something much better like a 120hz MicroLED Display iPad Pro.
