So on paper it seems impressive that Apple could double the Neural Engine from 6 billion from A13 to 11 billion on the A14, but I was always confused as to exactly what sort of improvements this brought. I know that it’s supposed to bring improvements to AI/AR intended tasks but can anyone explain this in detail, specifically in context to the iPad Air (since it doesn’t even have LIDAR)?

Would these Neural Engine scores also impact longevity in terms of future OS updates?
