Computer knowledge is not my wheelhouse so let me begin with an apology.
Back story: few years ago the wife spilt wine into our MacBook Pro (mid 2012 retina 13”). Thinking it was toast I harvested the ssd and gave it to my kids for their PS storage and tossed the laptop into a drawer. Fast forward to now. I bought a WD BLUE SN570 and hit a wall. Found an adapter that does NGFF to m.2, will that work and does NVME work on that year of MacBook?

this place was a complete waste of a membership and time. No responses, just a useless forum. I went ahead and figured it out myself. Apple MacBook Pro retina 13” mid 2012 A1425 storage can be upgraded to a SATA3 ssd. Got an adapter from Amazon and a cheapo 512gb ssd which barely fit into the tray along with the adapter. Can’t use the screw that holds ssd in place so it’s just in there. Turned laptop on and via usb loaded Catalina in (after formatting SSD for Mac OS journal files). All works great. It’s a bit laggy but most likely due to the fact that I had no battery in it. Everything functions fine. Thinking of upgrading to ventura with that patch that’s out. Anywho. Hope this helps anyone who’s interested in upgrading their mid 2012 A1425 storage and can’t get a response in this place. This is the adapter and ssd that I used. They work great. Thanks for nothing Macrumors.

Your chance of getting a response would have been better if you posted this thread in the MacBook Pro forum instead of the Mac Basics forum. I'm moving this thread there for future reference.
