Are there any obvious advantages of the a14x ipad pro making the current one obsolete and not worth the money currently?
Ah, I'm getting it. Apple is making their version of the Surface Pro.I think that it will run both iPadOS and macOS. When they demoed Big Sur they mentioned that the finder menus had been spaced out more, why do this? Touch support. Just like on Windows 10 when you enable touch mode in applications it spaces out items to make for larger hit boxes.
So i reckon, A14X chip paired with 8-16GB RAM and 512GB storage, priced around $1999. Probably renamed the iPad Pro X or iPad X Pro or possibly, iPad Pro AF![]()

I believe Mac and iPad were separate before because they were two separate ecosystem. But now, it seems that the two ecosystem are merging. It's possible now for a developer to make an iPad app and also target Macs. I wouldn't dismiss the possibility of Apple version of something like the Surface Pro, but the UI separation is more clear. Eg. When detached, the device uses iPad OS UI, when attached, it will use macos UI. One app store. Buy once and you can use both the Mac and iOS version of the app. It will be the same app but smart enough to adjust to the environment whether it's in Mac mode or iPad mode. That would be neat. It's basically what Microsoft dreamt up in UWP.I seriously doubt that will happen. Apple keeps the iPad Pro and Macs separate, the iPad Pro is a different device than a Mac and vis versa. The Mac may get more like an iPad in looks but Apple won't put touch on a Mac.
When I’m using the magic keyboard, I only find myself touching the screen in the YouTube app, much is unusable without touching. In the future, when all the apps are compiled using the same instruction set, it wouldn’t seem crazy for me for an iPad Pro to run Mac OS when docked to a magic keyboard.I seriously doubt that will happen.
