Hello!

I have my att GSM iphone 7, model a1778, recently paid off and unlocked by my carrier att.

My friend would like to use it on her metro pcs account, but her sim showed no service. We researched but have not found a definite answer. I see the phone is a GSM version, I had thought metro was CDMA, but I saw some articles online showing the phone should work.

Is it possible to use the phone on metro, and how would I make that work?

Thanks for your help!

You can also install the apn above. Just hit the create apn and select MetroPCS (fast.metropcs.com)

Or visit https://www.metropcs.com/support/faq and select your device and it will show the correct apn settings.

MetroPCS is on T-Mobile network so it should work. You can also insert the SIM and do a network reset in Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Setting

It’s showing No Service because you have to call Metro to do a device swap by giving them the IMEI of the iPhone. They still run on the T-Mobile network but they were CDMA before merging with T-Mobile. The device swap procedure is a turnover from the old Metro system. I’m not sure why they haven’t got rid of it since Metro is GSM now.
