Considering the speculation that the next iPhone will be using the iPads A4 SoC, I thought this post would be more relevant here than over on the iPad boards.

Has anybody done any benchmarking of the iPad vs the 3GS, particularly app loading speed? If anybody has any links, or has done any benchmarking themselves, please share it here. I'm very interested to know what kind of performance we might expect out of the iPhone 'HD'. Bear in mind, I'm still using my sometimes painfully slow 3G, so even a 3GS feels snappy to me, but how does the A4 really perform? How big of an upgrade really IS the A4?

I'm also very curious about Apple's new chip. Has anyone found any definitive evidence that the A4 is based on the Cortex A8 and not the Cortex A9? Personally, I was hoping Apple would give the next iPhone the delight of being the first multi-core iPhone :D

it will be a while

till anybody knows for sure what the next Iphone will be what processor features etc. there will be allot of rumors and speculation but it will be the end of June before we know for sure! WWDC the most likely Rumored to be June 28-July 2 but even that might be wrong. Apple could Also surprise us and not release the next Iphone then! but I am sure Ipad benchmarks will be released soon just got into the public hands yesterday! needs a few days lol!
