I've seen some rumours, announcements, etc about a few "AAA" games being released on the iPhone/touch but was wondering what the current status on some of these were, and what other titles I'm unaware of... By AAA I mean games like Bioshock (rumoured), Spore (September I hear), etc. Just curious. :)

Spore is supposed to be out out next week (around September 7th I believe) and it is NOT the full Spore game, it is the mobile Spore Origins; just the primordal cell stages from the Spore game.

Probably still fun, and probably significantly cheaper that way. :p

So what other games are on the horizon? I remember reading Sega was looking at porting some of their back catalog to the iPhone, so there's some possibilities there. I think Sonic with accelerometer-tilt controls might be really fun...

But I thought you were asking about AAA games? The version of Spore coming on the iPhone is NOT the AAA version Spore game. Yes, it should still be fun and cheap, but if that's all you're looking for, there are tons of fun and cheap games already in the App Store...

I would consider Spore a "AAA" game, even though it's not "the Spore". Isn't the DS version similar to the iPhone, for example? Just because the desktop version will be "bigger and better" doesn't lessen this version. AAA, to me, is a game with excellent production values across the board, which Spore Origins undoubtably will have.
:)

There was an article on an Italian company making an old school rpg type game (think japanese rpg). It might have been in Touch Arcade....might want to do a search there.

There is Sport Origins as well as something Id is thinking about doing (but nothing announced yet).

I am still waiting for Peggle.
