Able to upgrade and compatable with cars?

Of course we will see iPhone 2.0 before our two year contacts are up so how will AT&T and Apple handle this? I would hate to purchase one Friday only to have another version come out a year later but I'm stuck in a two year contract

Also does anyone know if the iPhone will be compatible with my Alpine IVA-200 car stereo?

Not sure about the specific stereo, but if you have an AUX in port you're golden. Nevertheless a new version is definitely going to come out... hopefully they'll update the software in the old slew of them to keep us current

Well it doesn't use the AUX in port but the uses the sync port. It lets me control my iPods from a touch screen on my dash. I just dock my iPods in my center console and everything is done on my stereo. I just hope the iPhone allows me to do this.

I have an Alpine/ipod system too, and while I suspect the ipod thing might work, there is no way to handle taking a call so maybe it won't work..
