Has anyone used Ableton Live to mix music on a MBA? That's my main concern about the air's power. My 1st-generation Macbook barely runs it, and I need a computer that can mix tracks without quitting every single other application and compressing all the tracks.

you prob won't see too much action on this thread, unfortunately.

here's one of the few on the subject in general:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1126265/

there are a few threads on the ableton forums, but, at least till recently, they were only speculative. there are also some threads regarding pro tools work out there.

it seems like the current 13" does the trick for basic to moderate work. the 11 covers very basic stuff.

however, the upcoming models should cover music production nicely for many users, which is why i've been waiting.

Thanks so much for the response. You're right, it's virtually impossible to find anything relevant on this topic. I'll wait as well; if the SB 11" MBA is able to handle ableton like a champ, that would be aewsome

that's more or less exactly what i'm hoping. having a truly capable comp in such an adorably tiny package is too hard to resist; high res, SSD, super light, super compact, ... solid CPU, that's a hell of a laptop.

... the screen is small, and, more annoyingly, short, but, i'm hoping i can adjust (and will continue using an ext monitor at the desk).

Totally agree, I'm looking to use it as a midi brain for a Roland Electronic kit I'm going to be using live. I really am looking forward to seeing these new Airs. Especially the 11", I just hope the battery life is up to scratch.
