Hi everyone, I just bought my iPhone a few days ago and all my friends have been encouraging me to jailbreak. However, my brother tells me that jailbreaking runs a risk of 'bricking' my iPhone, causing it to be non-functional. One of his friends ran into error 9, which after some googling, I found out to be a problem some other users are facing as well.

I am aware of the restore options but may I know what are the chances of running into error 9 (which is non-restorable as far as I know) as well?

Thanks!

I have never talked to anyone with first-hand knowledge of a bricked iPhone since OS version 1.1.1. Seriously, don't worry. You can always put it into DFU mode and restore. And any error from which you can't recover would look like hardware failure to Apple, anyway.

The only way to truly brick one of these is a sudden hardware failure. All the other stuff, you can recover.

The "bricked" comments are generally from persons with little knowledge or experience in the jailbreak community.
