About MBA on internet sites... WTF

I am new to the MBA, but all sites only say MBA is cr@p no way!!

I think that if you need to work in a farm you will buy a Silverado and not a Spark.

Same with the MBA, small, quick and ez to park. You wont take a Dodge RAM to a place with small parking spaces or wont use an old festiva to transport a football team.

Same w/ Rev A Rev B and Rev C , same machine different versions, all designed for the same: light work.

Not all of us Render 3000 x 3000 dpi 3D, 30 minutes movies. whats the deal in Air vs Pro ? jaleous ppl who want a MBA?.... and the worst is that most ppl w/ opinion has never touched a MBA or Mac. UUUggghhh!!

I think that the relation w/ the MBA is nothing but REAL love... you saw her, you want her, you get it, its beautiful you dont care is she can cook the christmass dinner(play intensive 3D games), she is beautiful and you want it next to you...

Anyway who is going to play Bioshock or phototouch on a 13" at Starbucks?

This was my frustration about all I have read on the net bout MBA, what u think?

I think the MacBook Air is absolute ***** and people who buy them should be burned at the stake. It's only got one USB port, the RAM is soldered and can't be upgraded… damn the battery isn't terrific either. And the only way to upgrade your OS is the Superdrive unless you have another $500 to spend on another computer (which cost more than the Superdrive that can only be used on one computer despite the fact that every other USB optical drive made works on one USB port without any issues). Did I mention the price of what you're paying for? I mean you can pay $500 less and get a MacBook for less that's faster! Talk about being superficial.

Oh I'm kidding, I love the MacBook Air. I would love more RAM or one more USB port (or Firewire), but the world isn't perfect.

For Sure u r typing on a Pentium 2 or AMD K6-2 now... for sure u have a whole lot or USBs...

Try an eraser to remove the yellowish from the case...

Normally, reporters and reviewers should be non biased but in reality they are usually bias against one direction. Even a mac lover would probably downgrade the air because of the limitations.

I personally use it as an primary machine, even with games... haven't found much to complain about since I knew about the limitations.

I use my MBA as my one and only machine. I use a Pioneer USB dvd drive if I need to burn a DVD, watch a movie or install something from a CD, but this is rare, so I appreciate not having the extra weight all the time. If I were a programmer, or gamer, I would want something more robust, but I am not. The MBA is perfect for someone like me. Email, web, IM, Office, music etc is 99% of what I do. The MBA does all this as good as any computer and what it is marketed for. Period. But one of the things I like the most, is how unassuming it is. When slipped into my portfolio case, it appears to be just that, a portfolio. Sometimes carrying around a laptop seems a bit pretentious, but with the MBA, you can have it with you at all times, incognito.

The MBA is a hunk of junk. Why would anyone want such a thing laptop that could easily be snapped in two? Anyone that doesn't buy a laptop at least an inch thick is just asking for trouble and is an utter moron. MacBook Air owners can shove their overpriced netbooks up their backsides. My two year old 17" 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo 7 pound three inch thick desktop replacement laptop is so much better. Carrying it around obviously proves I'm fitter and healthier because I don't mind the weight compared to the nancy boy air.

That's what I would have said if I was the average poster on a PC forum. Personally I love the air and my fiancée loves the one I bought her a couple of weeks ago. It makes my 15" Unibody MacBook Pro look like a three year old Dell in terms of weight and thinness.

You will agree with me that a Bmw will be an awesome machine racing with 2 ppl on it. But it will never be able to take a tractor out of a swamp.

And ppl keeps making the comparison between the Air and MBP or an XPS.

The air rev A is an awesome and strong machine for daily tasks and it does some heavy tasks too.

I wish I could do the same... Unfortunately, I need two machines. I have an iMac now for the "power" and am going to be getting a Macbook Air very soon for travel/business.

My big problem now is going to be keeping files synced. I've got just a few folders on the iMac that I want to make sure are synced to the Air. Any suggestions on the best way to do this? Thanks!

I think it's a pretty good product, but many complain as if it is supposed to compete directly with the regular line of laptops. It's an ultra-portable, and it's meant to do things an ultra-portable could do. It just so happens that they have a pretty decent spec for an ultra-portable making it viable for some apps others struggle with.

For me, I'm surprised they got an Nvidia card inside something that looks like it could disappear if you turned it sideways. Still, even the folks at the Apple Store seem to talk to people about whether the Air is the right Mac for them. It's all about how your use your Laptop.

I use my Air as my main laptop, and come home to an early 2009 Mac mini. The system works out perfectly, as the Air is small, light, and portable, but also has a beautiful keyboard, great screen, and large, generous trackpad. I have all my peripherals at home plugged into the mini (by the way, the Mac mini has the highest number of USB ports of any Mac at 5. It's tied with the Mac Pro), and shared over the network. Need to print something from the Air? Done over the network. Need to grab some files or add to my gianormous external drive? Done over the network. Need to share some simple work I've done while out and about with the mini? Done over the network. I really only find myself using the headphone jack on the Air - I only use the miniDP for giving presentations, and that lone USB port often simply goes unused.

I'd love to have an Air for writing, browsing and email. But I really needed 4G memory and enough battery to flight coast-to-coast - so I traded my 1.86GHz rev C Air for a new 13" MBP.

Still love how light the Air is though. It's a nice machine if it meets your needs.

I think it was named CrapBook I had 3 now that I upgraded to a macbook I will never go back as it was OK to surf and nothing more.

The MBA is a fantastic combination of portability and all day usability that is a pure joy to use if you can live within its performance and capacity limitations.

My RevA 1.6/2/80 was my favorite all time laptop even though I struggled with its capacity limitations. I eventually moved to a uMB 2.4/4/320 that has plenty of performance and capacity for me as my only machine and is generally excellent, but not a day goes by that I don't miss the MBA.

Wish me luck resisting the call of the MBA this holiday season
