? about renaming home folder after migration

I used migration assistant to move the data from an old Mac to a new one and the user name and home folder name also moved from the old machine to the new one.

any concerns about changing them to something else on the new machine? I think I found directions however there seemed to be a warning about possibly data disappearing in the process.

I don't think there is any reason to rename your account, but if you want to do it at least be careful to do it right.

You can rename your macOS user account and home folder, which were named when the account was created.

My advice is ... don't try this unless you:
- have a really good reason for needing to do so
- and are aware of the dangers, and know which steps to take.

got it. I just wasn't clear about the dangers. the name that transferred to the new machine refers to iMac and a year in the past .... but I can live with it. thanks for taking the time to reply.
