About that famous AT&T coverage map...

I can only speak for the state I know as well as I do, but I'm looking at Wisconsin nearly completely colored in, indicating "covered" area.

The upper 2/3 of the state, which I grew up in, lived in recently, and just spent a month traveling again over the holidays, should be nearly completely white. Even while driving on relatively major highways I found a signal perhaps once every hour or less, and off the highways, forget it. There's just nothing. Even the northern cities, Hayward, Ashland, Superior... 5 miles out of town in any direction, and you're dead.

I'd love to see how they justify the claims made on this map.

I'm curious how other states compare with their representation on this map.
 
I don't get 3G or even EDGE most of the time on my way from Raleigh NC to Florence SC. Then again, I have no reason to be there so who cares.
 
@NT1440: Any kind of connection at all. I don't even care about 3G. Just connection enough to make a phone call when your trucks snowed under.

@ calvy: I have no idea. I'm talking about the iphone, and AT&T, not verizon. This map actually resides on this page called: "The Truth About the AT&T Network". I know many people prefer "personal truths" & whatnot, but this is taking the concept a little far.



My favorite though, has to be trying to get a map, and getting the "you are not connected to your internuts" warning, even tho the cell signal is at 4 or 5 bars.

In areas not covered by actual AT&T-owned networks, the map shows the licensed coverage area, not an estimate of actual coverage. You should also try using the interactive map on the AT&T website, which, in my experience, is more accurate.

The cell signal doesn't matter when trying to connect to the internet. as you can see, you have no internet service, which is independent from cell signal, next to the bars
