about the Mail program....

yes, but i should let you know to check yahoo mail with a client other than the mail.yahoo.com one, you need to pay a fee to yahoo. This is a new thing they have done recently. To configure mail to check other email accounts goto preferences and go into the accounts part of it and make a new account.
It works free with hotmail
go to macupdate.com and get httpmail 1.x It works perfect. however, if you haven't used mail before you need to set up a "fake" email account just to get the mailbox folder to appear in your system. you need that folder created in order to httpmail to work. It took me a while to figure out why i kept getting an error during installation.

I'm sure there's a plug-in for Hotmail to work in Mail.app but I don't have it and am not sure what the link is. Google search "hotmail Mac mail" should tell you all you need to know. Or try versiontracker.
This has been covered a number of times, and I know there's a walkthrough somewhere in the threads... I followed it and it works for me

i have installed httpmail plugin just last week, here is what you should do.mooshoo said:
install httpmail plugin from version tarcker.
open mail
it would ask you to set up an account, just fill in garbage, anything in any field. it would give u some warnings as not able to connect and all. ignore, and keep on clicking continue.
finally it wd make the account, and now from the top menu, you would be able to click preferences(without setting up an account, it would be greyed out)
now select the accouts tab, click + to add a new account, select account type as 'httpmail'. This option would be there after u install the plugin.
other fields are simple. description- write anything..email address- write your hotmail address
incoming server-hotmail.com
user name and password are your hotmail user name and password.
outgoing server, i hv chosen as none, i guess you can select anything..
click save
now delete the earlier account u made.
thats it. and it works great.
