I'm getting real close to purchasing my first Mac desktop now. I've decided to go with the Power Mac and was wondering if this configuration is good. I was also thinking if it would be better just to wait off until the Intel Power Macs come out so I don't feel like I've wasted money on buying a PPC mac later if Intel macs are just around the corner.
Here's my Power Mac's configuration:
Power Mac G5 Dual-core 2GHz
512MB 533 DDR2 Non ECC SDRAM - 2x256
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 256MB SDRAM (Upgraded)
AirPort Extreme + Bluetooth built-in (Upgraded)
2GHz Dual-core PowerPC G5
250GB Serial ATA - 7200rpm (Upgraded)
16x SuperDrive double-layer (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Total: $2,001 (w/ Educational discounts)
Does this seem good or is there anything else I should change? And, when would this arrive? I've seen some other people with their estimated ship date at around December or later. I'm not sure if it's becouse Apple is out of stock with the 7800's or if it's only their Quads.
