Hi All,

First post.

I have a couple of questions regarding the iPod.
1. Does anyone think the next generation 20G or 30G Photo will be out in the next month or 2?

2. Can any members share there battery experience with the 20G v. 30G Photo? Are the differences extreme b/c one is color and the other is not?

PS. Also about to switch to an iBook this summer.

Thanks for your help.!

Martin

1. personally, i think no, the iPods were just updated recently and with tiger coming out and rumored upcoming iMacs, eMacs, and powermacs, i think the iPods will stay as they are for a while.

2. i have a 20 gig and the battery life is about what it was advertised as, 8 hours. of course i bought mine before the recent battery improvements. people are posting here now that they get anywhere from 8-15 hours from the new iPods.

good luck!

Um not sure about Question 2 but on number 1 I think that we may see one in the Paris Expo in the fall If not im guessing there would be a small update after that (not this summer becuase of the cram & jam deal). Im putting my money on the Paris Expo.

Tiger will be released by 3:07pm on July 1.
HECK YES

i think that needs updateing we all know when tiger is due now

On topic: the ipod photo has a longer battery and the current 20GB ipod has a 12 hour battery, if i idident currently have an ipod i'd go for a 6GB mini, long ass battery (some say up to 20-22 hours) and enough space for a fair few songs.

I have a 4G iPod(20GB) and the battery life last more than a week and I use it about 2 hours everyday.

I've had my 4G 20GB iPod for about eight months now and have never had a problem with the battery. It is rated for 12 hours and I often use it most of the day at work and in the car. I cradle it each night and have never had to worry about the battery. When you go on trips just be sure to bring along some method of charging it.

I'd get the 30 GB iPod photo. For $50 you get 10 GB more, a color screen, extra functionality for the photos and album art, plus you get a little more battery life (15 hr I believe). I wish I had an iPod photo, but my iPod is fine for now. I may upgrade after the next major rev. of the iPod photo line.

I got my 4G 20gig for christmas and couldnt be happier with it. I get a decent battery out of it. I use it for most of the 8 hour day at work and usualy have to charge it about every other day. Personally I don't feel that I'd need an iPod Photo. Album art has never been a big deal to me, and I don't really have any reason to need to view photo's on my iPod. So for me the added features on the 30gig Photo don't make me wish I had waited, I love my 20gig.
