Ok guys work with me here as I'm a noob with all this crap. I'm out of contract with my sprint service and month to month now. Thinking about getting with ATT and 3gs. I have a work discount and looked up prices and see I think my bill would be around 60 bucks without taxes. Can anyone tell me how much with tax the 60 buck plans are. I think my work discount was only like 15 percent. Ok also what firmware version is the iphone shipped with now and as far as jail breaking and unlocking it I'm assuming it's all done with pawnage tool. Do the phones ship with the latest firmware now and I thought they added a new chip to circumvent jailbreaking just recently. Ok guys sorry for all the questions just wanted to know more info thanks.

No idea how much your taxes are, where do you live? :)

Here in NYC, my $74.99 pretax plan is about $85-$90 each month.

As for the jailbreak you now can jailbreak whatever version your 3GS comes with with Pwnage Tool 3.1.4, however if it's 3.1 or 3.1.2, you won't be able to unlock as the baseband in those versions is currently not able to be unlocked.

I'm in VA so when I went to the att store thru my employee discount link it was like 34 for date and 25 for a plan so thats about 59 bucks then you add on all that other crap and maybe it will be 65. So about 35 more then what I pay now with sprint sero. So does the iphone ship with 3.1 firmware now?

So I guess you can calculate what your normal taxes would be for VA, maybe off an existing wireless phone bill?

As for the OS version, iPhone's can ship with 3.0.1, 3.1 or 3.1.2, depending on where the come from, stock levels, etc I suppose. rest assured though, that you can jailbreak any version it comes with now. :)
