I just got a new core duo2 macbook pro :)

I have on order a Hitachi 7k100 100gb drive. I plan on installing boot camp + windows on the machine.

Is there a specific order I should follow of installing OS's?
ie, XP first or OSX first?

Also do I need to format the partitions seperatly? Can osx load on an ntfs so I just make one large ntfs partition? If not, can I eventually change the sizes of the two partitions down the road?

TIA!
-David

Yea, if you can have more than 20gb ... it would be nice. I have 20 gb, and a couple of games installed ... and i only have 1gb left .... And also think you won't be able to make your partition bigger if you ever miss some space in the partition...

Maybe I should make the windows partition (if possible) fat32 so apple can read it? This way I can store all my mp3 on the windows partition and if windows ever needs more space I can just move the mp3s back to the mac partition. I would then make a 60gb apple/40gb windows partition

I'd stick with NTFS for Windows. FAT32 has file size limitations and some other issues.

But that's just my opinion.

My 20gb windows on my macbook is FAT32 and I have never seen a problem with large files. (~1 GB). But i love the fact Mac Os can read fat32...

If you deal with any movies or other video files, you may start to run into problems. I think that Fat32 doesn't like files larger than 2GB or 4GB?

Good new guys! the hitachi 7k100 drive install went smooth thanks to the diagrams at ifixit.com

I decided to hold off for two weeks on the windows install as vista should be released by then. Then again I know windows xp runs well, shoud I skip vista?
