On Tuesday, when Vista Business is released, I am going
to install it on my Mac Pro via Parallels.

I bought the boxed (CD) version of Parallels two weeks ago.

However, I want to use the latest BETA to take advantage of
all the new functions.

What is the best way to go about this install?

Should I install the CD then do the upgrade?

Or, just download and install the BETA and enter the activation
key that should be somewhere in the boxed package?

Anything else I should know or do before attempting this install?

In advance, thanks for all your help!

I think you can just download the latest beta and ask for a trial key, as your regular key won't work with that and install that. Then when the final version is released you can use your regular key.

I've not even opened the CD envelope on my boxed Parallels... :)

How long does the trial key last?

On the flip side, can I install from the boxed CD, register
it with the included activation key, and then install the
BETA version over it?

I've downloaded and run the latest beta immediately, using my bought over the internet parallels key. No need for a trial key.

I fail to see why the beta wouldn't work with the key from a normal boxed version...

The only caveat they mention using the beta is that keys locked to non-english languages versions can't be used with the betas, but that would be solved for the official release, I believe.

Longer than it takes to finish the final release, I assume... ;)

Possibly, but not necessarily:

Parallels pages said:
The activation keys for local versions of Parallels Desktop for Mac do not work with our current RC build of Parallels Desktop for Mac. This regards to UK, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Czech, Polish and Japanese versions. If you’re using any of those local Parallels products and want to try and evaluate our great features such as Coherence, USB 2.0 support, Transporter, and other, please please order the 30-day trial activation key below.

That's why I recommended getting a trial key... :)

Edit: I see your key worked after all. Then there's no problem... :D
