....should i tell her to wait till MWSF. Basically she wants to get a Blackbook to replace her ageing thinkpad and im thinking she should wait till MWSF before buying anything.

Also will the MacBook be good for her...coming from a Thinkpad?. Are there any known issues with current MBs?. She'll be using this for Office, Music, Pictures and of course the internet.

if she is fine with pc-mac transition, she should be okay.
for a people who doesn't watch industry very close, MWSF is really not a big deal. ask her.

Wait. At the very least, iLife will go from '06 to '07. If it were months away, I'd say to wait, but it's less than two weeks from now.

The MacBook will be a fine replacement for the ThinkPad, which is also an excellent and well-built notebook (regardless of which ThinkPad model it is).

I would say to wait a couple weeks if you can. There probably will not be any changes to the macbook since they were just upgraded to C2D, however iLife 07 will be introduced at macworld.

For her computing needs, a Macbook will be perfect. But if it is no problem for her to wait just for 2 weeks then she should wait. If something new (updated macbooks) is out then she can grab it, otherwise she loses nothing.

Depends on the ergency of the situation. If she absolutely needs a computer now and can't wait and would buy another PC, then she should buy the current BlackBook which would gracefully replace her thinkpad. If she can wait then it is advisable. MWSF is too close to mess up a buy.

I think she's gonna go for it now. She really wants to get rid of the Thinkpad, its on its last legs. Almost 5 years old.

there you go, to have a computer working is sure more important than waiting for a upgrade, for most normal users, lol

5 years v.s. 2 weeks that is a very odd decision. and seemingly poor judgment. I think the MB will serve her purposes beyond expectations.

what model thinkpad is it? I have a T23 and love it, you'd hardly know its 5 years old.

I have to imagine a BlackBook would be a substantial step up though, as my 1.13GHz P3 does show its age from time to time.

I couldn't tell the exact model but its definately a T series, has a trackpad and track point, 1027x768 resolution 14" screen so maybe that narrows somewhat. Two USB ports are broken, LCD no longer latches, wireless works when it feels like it etc.

I'll try and get her to hold out but she seems 'eager' to drop the Thinkpad. We'll see....

I'd still say wait for MWSF. I seriously doubt that MacBook or MacBookPro will be updated. But, with Steve Jobs you never freakin' know.

SO definately hang on another week or so.

I see no point in waiting as it is HIGHLY unlikely that we will see any H/W changes to the MB. I am expecting to see a Mac Mini upgrade coinciding with the iTV unit.
