About to order 6870 but...

I saw that these said Mac g5 on them, I have a 2006 Mac pro but it doesn't have a g5 processor, will these still work?Probably dumbest question that's been asked
Nevermind I looked at specs and saw it works with any pcie mac. Thank you. How many will I need to purchase?

These work. You will need two unless you already have one from your existing card.

No worries. I can confirm that these work AT LEAST through 3,1 Mac Pros. I've used about 10 of them so far, and keep 2-3 around in my parts drawer just because they're so darn useful.
2 for a 6870, but as stated before, your existing GPU may already have one which you can reuse.
Yea, I play a bit of BF3. Still need to fiddle around with some of the settings to optimize performance!
I went with Sapphire. It was on sale for $160 and I was happy that I wouldn't need to flash it or anything (I don't feel confident with that sort of thing).
They should work with any Mac Pro. The logic board PCIe power headers have remained the same throughout the line.

you wont get different results with other aty_init, because, well, it's a kext that inits. it either inits or doesnt. the port mapping is decided by drivers.
