previous issues with GTX680 (PC version)

I'm about to go and pick up my third EVGA GTX 680 2GB reference card (mac edition is sold out everywhere). They're now about 100$ less and I could only find one around my area.
With my MP 5,1 passing all the Apple tests in the store and not finding any issues with it, I'll be trying this card out yet again. I guess this will verify whether I actually bought two lemon cards in a row or there's something wrong with my MP. My current dual gpu setup (GT120 and 5870) works as it should - no crashes, PCIe bandwidth and lane issues, etc.

If this doesn't work this whole adventure will cost me 5% restocking fee of $25....I suppose it's worth knowing what was/is the issue.

Your thoughts?

btw, I don't know anyone with a Mac Pro, so I can't test the card anywhere else :(

so far so good.....30minutes into wow...
keeping fingers crossed

I just noticed the Mac edition is sold out everywhere.

At Newegg it says discontinued instead of out of stock? Is it discontinued already?

Titan

Why don't you just buy a Titan. Works perfectly well with ML 8.4 (no boot screen though). [MacPro 3,1]

The GeForce GTX TITAN is still $1000 and needs a supplemental power supply, so it's certainly not a simple drop-in replacement for a GTX 680 card. Having said that, I went and bought one for one of my Mac Pro systems at work and have been extremely happy with it. My main gaming system at home is still running the 680 though.

4 hours so far....and still running well...
I think I bought two lemon cards in a row...knock on wood

I paid 420 Canadian for mine...titan is way out of my price range
