hello everybody
i've heard that the Dev team has finally found the way to unlock os 3.1 iphone 3gs !!! is this true ???

i need your help , please confirm this information .. coz if it's true i'm gonna buy it soon (the locked one) and use it out of the US .

if this is true and they've found the way to unlock OS 3.1 , is it applicable for any retail iphone 3gs exist now in stors ???

the last question .. from where can I buy it (the contract free iphone 3gs) .. can I go directly to apple store and get one ??

I really appreciate your help ... thank you in advance

When you speak about unlocking, you should really speak in terms of baseband more than firmware version as you can upgrade your firmware version yet retain your lower unlockable baseband

If your baseband is 5.11.xx (Settings/General/About and look all the way to bottom under Modem Firmware) it cannot be unlocked on 3GS. There is no unlock.

Your phone can be jailbroken, however.

I think Apple sells no contract phones, but they are like $699 or so. These phones are not factory unlocked, just not tied to a cell carrier contract.
