hey guys well after having my phone for 3 weeks, I've come to the conclusion that these are the absolute MUST HAVE functional apps for your JB Iphone 3gs, hopefully in the next update these wont be required because apple will include them as factory functions.

#5 - TomTom US/Canada just love seeing it in action hige app though 1.4gig
#4 - winterboard (love a sexy girl as my background)
#3 - five row (cydia) placing 5 icons on the dock makes so much sence
#2 - ebuddy / Trillion for all messenger connections
#1 - Multifl0w!!! This is by far the best app I've used thus far, replicating the Palm-Pre's background and card system for bacground running apps.

I hope that they will get their hands on #1 and #3 for the next update 4.0 or whatever it will be. the Iphone 3gs runs really smoothly with all the apps running in the bacground and I love the card system. Tell me if I've missed any you guys MUST Have as well!

and if you have seen the addition to backgrounder which is called multifl0w, its amazing probably one of the only apps I will be forced to download... quickreply = bite SMS but they both are trials... cant get them free... :(

what is 3gunrestrictor? and yourtube?? LOL

Here's what I have and can't live without:

1. backgrounder
2. winterboard
3. five icon dock
4. statusnotifier
5. mobileterminal
6. openssh
7. afp2add
8. ldid
9. weatericon
10. katra-based weather icon theme
11. liveclock
12. 3g unrestrictor
13. tethering hack
14. sbsettings
15. rotation inhibitor
16. user agent faker
17. cydelete
18. wigglefree
19. flashlight

Flash light?
LOL, you don't need to JB to get that kind of app you know.

Yeah well, next to the JB Flashlight the Appstore flashlight is like a ridiculous match stick =) Try it out and again, stop pirating mmmkay?

Flashlight on Cydia is way better than any App Store version, because it always goes direct to the device's maximum brightness - something the official flashlights aren't allowed to do.

Anyways, here's my 'must have' list:
SBSettings (and it's various toggles).
Safari Download Manager.
iFile.
Backgrounder.
YourTube.

SBSettings
Lockinfo
WinterBoard
Categories
Mobile Terminal
Openssh
Rotation Inhibitor
60 Second Lock Screen

i am only using 4.

music controls- control slacker, pandora, last fm, and nearly any music app the same way that you control the iPod.
quickreply for SMS- Reply to any of your sms's overtop of any other app.
universal search- search the google, wikipedia, maps, twitter ect right from spotlight, similar to palm pre's search. LOVE IT
desktop/sms background- this seemed like the best option to give me a wallpaper behind my icons, without going overboard.

But I heard that 3g unrestrictor only works with some apps and not all.

That is correct, here's some more details below:

Verified Apps
3G Unrestrictor is designed to work with all apps automatically and it does a pretty good job at it.

This list does not show which apps work, but ONLY which apps I personally verified to be working.

If your app is not in this list, the chances are still EXTREMELY high, that it will still work.
Applications verified to work:

◦Skype
◦Slingplayer
◦YouTube
◦AppStore
◦iTunes Store
◦Nimbuzz
◦Fring
◦Truphone
◦FriendCaller
◦SipPhone
Applications verified not to work:

◦MLB At Bat 2009
I tried getting this to work, but it uses Apple's new streaming technology that checks how much badwidth is available and then chooses the stream. I didnt find a way to change that behaviour. A later version of 3G Unrestrictor might make it possible. I might find a solution sometime later.
◦BBC iPlayer
I tried to get it to work too, but it seems that the iPlayer uses a system that detects whether an IP-Address belongs to a mobile internet provider and then blocks it if the mobile, iPhone version of the iPlayer is used. This is possible, because the iPlayer uses the service of a company at which every internet provider has to register it's IP-Ranges. Since the check whether a mobile internet connection is used is made on the iPlayer side and not on the iPhone's side in the Safari app, I cannot unrestrict that.

Open SSH - obvious i suppose
Winterboard - even if it does cause lag, i like the customization
SB Settings - so much nicer than having to dig through the settings menu
Mobile Scrobbler - scrobbles my LastFM songs in real time
YourTube - love being able to download clips and watch them whenever

3G unrestrictor and the bluetooth sharing app would be nice, but i'd hardly use them enough to justify paying for them.

Only just jailbroke my 3Gs, but here's what I'm using so far:

Overboard - Expose type springboard browsing. Like Orbit, but better
Landscape TV-out - for watching Sky Mobile TV on the big screen
Multifl0w - for running apps in the background, specifically Spotify
Music Controls - gives me iPod type controls pop-up for Spotify

MobileTerminal & OpenSSH

Will definitely be checking out Element (homescreen/lock screen) when it comes out. Looks amazing.

And will prob also check out 3g unrestrictor for watching SkySports on the go, but that'll probably be all I need for now.

My absolute favorite 5:

- Mobile Substrate (reminds me of the old Palm HackMaster; most of our hacks depend on this)
- Categories w/ CategoriesSB (this folder combo costs only $0.99 and is worth so much more; keeps getting better and better)
- SBSettings w/ Leopard theme (love making icons for this)
- WinterBoard (gotta love sexy girls; plus, no damage/modifying original Springboard files)
- BossPaper (amazing that this is free; Landscape pack is the greatest)

I of course agree with the the rest of the posts on their choices as I have all of them as well (SSH, Inspell, LiveClock, LockInfo, PopupBlocker, WeatherIcon, iBlackList, 3G Unrestrictor, Backgrounder w/ Kirikae, DimDelay, Notifier, etc). The amount of extra utility that all these programs bring to the iPhone is amazing. Apple really should reconsider opening their platform so most people (not just JailBreakers) can use these as well. The amount of Themes available alone is astounding.

Well done iPhone JB Community! (You know who you are.)

You guys are still using 5 icon dock ? Thats so 1990s. Six icon dock is where it's at :p !

I also use Overboard. - alllows you to Jump to any screen.
