Would it be advisable to get a replacement? The only problem is that I will lose the jailbreak..

How long have you been looking at that app? It takes a while for things to settle down after opening it. Turn off auto lock and watch it awhile.

Also install mobile terminal and top. Run top. See what processes are running wild.
