I have never used AC2 before but by the error it seems like you're in recovery instead of DFU mode?

it was restoring in dfu mode but then it booted into that screen and ac2 gave me that error
Okay. I'm sorry I can't help more than that. Have never used it before. I usually use bootable USB installer to do things :) hope you can fix your problem tho!!

I don't know how long it was running but i did wipe the drive
Thanks.
2 things spring to mind as I once had an error with AC2 but I don't know if it was the same error.
First thing I would do is to close AC2 and disconnect the machines. Then try to boot normally the mac you were restoring. It may boot normally and in fact be restored - mine was.

If not;
The second thing is that this particular error can be caused by a break in connection between the two macs.
If I remember correctly on an M1 the port nearest the screen must be used to connect the two macs. Are you using that one?
If so you could possibly try a different cable and try to restore again.

Sadly I have to go out now.
The charging cable should be fine.
I'd suggest that you download the version required again and then try running AC2 restore again using that new file.
Try to get your M1 into DFU mode and make sure that the big DFU appears in the AC2 window before you start.
I'll look in again at this thread tomorrow.
Good luck.

That's upsetting. I think that's all you could do really.
I suspect that a trip to an Apple genius is now on your horizon. They will be able to fix it with their software though it would be interesting to find out what's gone wrong.
Good luck with it.
