Yes, this has been done before. Yes, this can be searched for. But don't give me any of the "Catch 22" nonsense of opinion threads. Old threads are outdated and irrelevant, people flame you for "necro bumping". So let's just start fresh in 2015.
Here's the idea. You know some games that are free that you return to during breaks/gaming times. You would like certain types of games. So post what you play, what it's like, why it's not bad of a "freemium" and what you're looking for. I'll start.
My "free" games on Mac:
DOTA 2 - All characters are unlocked, MOBA game. Not "pay 2 win" but has a steep learning curve. UI is somewhat cluttered compared to League. Wide range of graphic options.
League of Legends - MOBA game. Characters have to be bought with Riot Points ($$$) or IP (Game reward) but only character skins require RP, all characters can be bought with IP. Constant updates for balance purposes. I barely started playing last year in January and I actually enjoy it and I'm a tough sell for F2P games. Their matchmaking system is pretty amazing.
Hearthstone - Card collecting game. Digital simplified type of Magic the Gathering game. VERY pay 2 win. To a fault. Some people unlock extremely powerful legendary cards on their first free pack. Most others get crap cards and get steamrolled by players with elite decks. I don't recommend this game unless you have a deep wallet and are okay with losing OFTEN.
My "free" games on PC:
Neverwinter - I actually enjoy this MMO. I've never had a situation where I feel like paying money would offer some kind of game changing element. It's a lot more fun with friends (maybe a MacRumors guild?) but the graphics and play style are more action oriented. There's auto attack speeds and skills don't make a huge difference but it gives you the feel of being in control.
What I'm looking for:
GTA style game - I'll probably buy GTA 5 when it comes out but until I finish building my eGPU, it'll play like crap on my Intel Iris 5100.
Free MMO on OS X - I hate using Boot Camp to play games. I would like a premium style MMO that's on OS X.
