Hi everyone!

As I'm sure you've seen, the new M1 iMac 24" comes with exclusive accent colors to match the iMac's colors. I saw them in reviews and they looked nice, so I looked into enabling them on my Mac!

The result of that is my new Mac app that lets anyone easily switch to the new M1 iMac accent colors on any Mac.

You can download it from my website: https://mahdi.jp/apps/accents

Make sure to spread the word if you like it!

Hey, can you upload screenshot?
Yep, although I'm on my MacBook Air at the moment.

I'm using the 'purple' one now. I like how it's a lot more of a darker purple than the one you get as a standard option.

EDIT: Added screenshots of all the unique iMac accent colours, being used on my Intel MacBook Air courtesy of this App. Some of them look like slightly darker and more muted shades of the standard options, whilst others, such as Blue, Green and Purple are significantly different shades.

Nifty little app. It would be cool if you could just create/apply your own color instead of being forced to choose a pre-determined one.

I second this. I would love to be able to choose my own custom color. Is there any way to do this currently?

I noticed that too. I don't know what's going on lately. After I launched the Accents app and then set a color I then fiddled with the Terminal commands again.
Now they work.
I know this thread is old but I am new to the iMac world... I downloaded this app and cannot get it to work. The preview doesn't even show the iMac Accent color I select.... Can you help guide me on what exactly I need to look for to fix this?

Sometimes it's a little weird with changing colors. Try changing to your preferred color then doing this:

Open Terminal
Type
Code:
killall Dock killall Finder
Press enter

Your menubar, dock, and any finder windows will have a brief interruption and then will return. When it comes back the color should be updated. Alternatively, if you don't trust random strangers telling you to run commands in terminal, try a reboot instead of these steps after changing color.

Thank you! I will give it a shot. It's been bugging me all day trying to figure it out.

Hi. try opening the General section where you would normally set you accent colors. And then try setting them that way. If you used the Accents app, you will see that the accent color is on the right most dot after the Graphite accent that macOS usually ships with.
I'm using macOS Monterey and if you're using macOS Ventura or macOS Sonoma - then this looks a bit different, but should be the same functionality wise. Unless of course, that Apple no longer allows for that particular accent change
