HFS standard support has been gone since Catalina has been released. If you have an Intel Mac you could make a virtual machine with macOS Mojave (10.14.x) on it to read whatever disks you might have.
Try FuseHFS. It can mount HFS partitions from external disks and disk images. I use it with macOS Monterey. https://github.com/thejoelpatrol/fusehfs https://thejoelpatrol.github.io/fusehfs/
I don't think you can use it to bless a system folder though. In that case I use macOS virtual machine.
And I'm not sure about aliases.
