Hi,

Since aliases aren't supported on the iPhone right now, I was wondering if there's any way to access the web version of MobileMe on the iPhone...

Also, does anyone know if there's any hint of alias support on the iPhone in 2.1?

Thanks.

Nope...

Nope... No web mobileme from iPhone available.

Alias support - Can you be more specific?

You can create up to 5 email aliases in mobileme/mail/preferences... If that is what you are asking... If it is something else, would need a bit more of a hint as to what you are asking.

He's wondering if you can check your alias email on the iPhone, I'm not sure if you can or not, I have not tried, as I do not have an alias, yet.

I was asking because the iPhone can only send from your main MobileMe account- not the aliases. It's not a problem anymore, I fixed it...the workaround is ridiculous, but it works. I'm set up gmail to be able to send mail with the mobileme address, and then I'm using gmail as my smtp server, so with gmail, I can actually use the mobileme alias....

Yay! :)

Rob - more info on the steps for that?

Rob,

I also use an alias as my main email... don't mean to be a pest, but how did you sent up the gmail to use the alias account? I hate that I can check my mail on my iphone with the alias, but it will respond with the main account email, which is really confusing to most people.

Thanks!
Stacy

I really have no idea why there is not an iPhone version of the MM website, if you have a link, you can access the galleries in an iPhone format, but you can't get to that from the MM start page.

Here's how to send mail from your mobileme aliases on your iphone:

1. Make sure your mobile me email account it set up.

2. Go to Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

3. Choose Add Account -> Other -> Add Mail Account

4. Enter Your Name, the email address of the alias, your mobileme password and a description

5. Choose IMAP, for incoming mail server, use mail.me.com, and your username and password of your mobileme account (not your alias name). For the outgoing mail server, use smtp.me.com, and your username and password of your mobileme account (not your alias name).

6. Press Save.

7. Now, go back to mail settings, and click on your alias account to display it's settings, and delete all the incoming server information.

8. Done. When you compose an email now, you can click on the From address and select either your primary or alias email address.

swiftaw, that worked pretty well. Would there be any reason not to have this "Other" aliased me.com account as your only MobileMe account on the iPhone?

I seem to get push notifications on the aliased account, even though I cannot read mail in that account since I deleted the incoming server settings. I'm just wondering if there's any reason to keep the original MobileMe account rather than the aliased account (with all the mail settings set correctly).
