This has been a pet peeve of mine since NC debuted in iOS 5.
As I'm sure you're all aware of, access to these areas when the app is full screen/has the status bar hidden requires two swipes, the second has to be from the small tab that appears after the first.
This always takes me a few attempts and is quite frustrating.
My impression going back to iOS 5 was always that this was so that apps that rely on lots of touch input, like games, which typically run full screen, could prevent input being misinterpreted as NC/CC access.
But for me and the apps I typically use, this solution does more harm than good.
The video player requires two swipes, even though it requires minimal touch input to use and a swipe from top or bottom is almost certainly going to be intended to access those areas.
Safari in fullscreen landscape on iPhone now requires it... Why??
I really think it's time to let apps override the default for this, and enable direct access in fullscreen if it's appropriate for the app in question. If it's already doable I wish apple would apply it to their own apps which I think are wrongly employing the double swipe feature.
