Accessing files after Logic Board Failure

My dads old G3 iBook Logic Board bit the dust a while ago. (Now the 3rd board to fail tsk).

He doesn't want the faff of travelling to get it fixed, so is now happy to order a brand new Macbook when it comes out.

In the meantime, is there a way of getting his important files off the dead iBook?

Networking won't work, as sharing wasn't enabled before the screen failed. Is there another way of getting to the files on his computer using my Powerbook?

Well with a failed logic board you probably won't be booting it.. which means your only option is to pull the HD out and put it in an external enclosure. I suggest Firewire.

Depending on the failure you might be able to boot into Target Disk Mode and get at the files that way. Otherwise removing the disk as suggested above is a good bet.
