Ok, I thought I would be able to store all my itunes in one place. Currently they are on an external drive hooked to my Mac Mini via firewire. I mapped a drive on my PC to point to the external drive. I then went into iTunes and assigned my library to the location on the mapdrive where my iTunes library lives. My PC doesn't seem to recoginize it. I did try sharing the library and my PC can see it shared, but I'm not sure this is really what I want to do?

Maybe I just don't understand the best way to configure this. My thought was I could store all the songs from 2 computers (2 Users) in one library and both would have access to them.

Any suggestions on the best way to configure this so both my spouse and I can access one library, thus making backup easier :) ?

Thanks

i tried this also, initially, on a linux box, but it ended up being a nightmare.

For one thing by having two versions of iTunes run off the same library, if you add songs on the PC the mac iTunes won't know they're there.
Also, networking an external mac drive as a shared drive is a bit tricky (OSX is set up to try and restrict you to sharing from your Home folder) unless you use something like Sharepoints - which i do anyway)

The easiest way is to appoint either the PC or mac iTunes as the master library, only adding/changing tracks to that library, and turning on "share my music" under preferences > sharing.
then turn on "find shared music" on the client one, and your shared library will appear.

Thanks!

I was afraid of that, but thought I would ask. It should be ok with me sharing to the PC from the MAC. I'll just train my husband to download songs on the mac only :)
