I've been accessing the itunes store for the past 40 minutes. Is this apple's problem? I'm definitely connected to the internet.

iPhone says connect to itunes and itunes says accessing itunes store.

frustrated

No need to panic — yet!

Seems everyone who has been updating via iTues are stuck there… some are getting through after 40+ minutes.

Patience seems to be the key word.

ok cool. I've got to make a move home in about 10 minutes, so i'll lose my internet connection. hopefully it'll do something before then, otherwise i'll have to start from scratch :(

Did neither company remember last time?

You think they would have maybe prepared a little better and learned something from last time. They could have easily hired a heavy hitter like akamai to handle the traffic. I'll keep trying and work on my patience.

Probably the best thing to do is if you REALLY needed your iphone today, then should wait to upgrade. There are a ton of iphones out there and ton more entering the world so shouldn't be surprised that there is an overload. I expected it and chose to upgrade regardless and now am patiently waiting.

That 9838 error is my problem too...I wish I was getting it hung up then at least I would know the servers were just slow and it will eventually work...at the present I'm worried about having to go to an AT&T store because something is wrong with the phone or SIM card....? Anyone know? The exact error message is:

We could not complete your iTunes Store request.
An unknown error occurred (-9838)

It pops up about three seconds into accessing the itunes store...no long delays or hangups - just bam! popup - iBrick. :(

ok, after accessing the itunes store for about an hour I got kicked out (error 9838) - now my iphone is activated - home screen active, i can make and receive calls etc, but the iPhone will not sync - i get the 9838 error. strange:confused:

Should it need to contact the itunes store to sync music, contacts et al?
