Just picked up my second MBP nTB today. The first one had display/graphics issues so I returned it just before picking up this one.
When I booted up, I noticed an icon in the shape of a home. Since I didn't see it with my last machine, I couldn't figure out where it came from and I put it in the trash and emptied the trash. I now realize this is the folder with the user name that would appear in the finder, and such a folder is now missing from there.
When I bring up a Terminal and do an "ls", I see all the subdirectories that were under the home icon (Desktop, Downloads, Music, etc.).
So, why did I see this home icon this time but not with the last machine? And how do I re-create it?
Thanks.
Edit:
I figured out how to get it back into finder.

And then I just dragged and dropped the icon at the top into the sidebar in finder.
