Anyone know how to get it back? Any information would be hugely appreciated.

i find this really hard to believe. when you press and hold an icon to bring up the option to delete apps, all of the ones that come on the phone dont have a delete option. im about 98% percent sure you're full of crap

You can dump the icon to the last page and it won't be there any more, so no, he's not full of crap as you put it.

It's possible (and only possible) via jailbreaking, as pointed out above already.

I moved this thread to the hacks forum -- please post any question that relates to jailbreaking, including the inadvertent consequences of jailbreaking, in the appropriate iPhone hacks or iPod touch hacks sub-forums. Thanks.

ya, i just noticed that...unless you have something hiding the icon...i didnt think you could remove the apps that it comes with. Unless of course, you downloaded something called YouTube or YourTube or whatever.

Not true. There is a way to load apps on the last page (page 11) and then dump apps past that page where they can only be access from spotlight.

Oh, sorry, yeah, I did forget that trick. It's fairly elaborate, though, and presumably someone who went to all that trouble would understand what they did. So if you do that, is there any way to fix it short of restoring the firmware?

I think you get it back by doing the enable and disable restrictions (or even resetting the home screen). However, I've never tried it (I really don't know why anyone would need more than 11 pages of apps :) but some do on this site).

Sorry, should have been more clear. It's month old un-jailbroken 3GS.

She was messing around with rearranging her icons and she thinks she might have "hit something she didn't mean to" and later realized there is an empty space on the front page and the youtube icon is nowhere to be found.

She tried to reset home screen..no dice. She searched her phone..no youtube. Thoughts?

EDIT: Never mind -- I just tried this myself. It's almost certainly restrictions.

Open settings -> general -> restrictions and turn them off.

Only rub is that she would have had to establish a password to enable restrictions. Hopefully she knows what it is.

That was it! Thanks so much.

Uhh that was the first thing I suggested lol, if you check the second post. I'm glad you got it fixed though.

He was waiting for a Moderator to tell him what to do. You didn't have enough status. :)

Edit: I only got on this thread because they were accusing the OP of making it up.
And I know you solved the problem. IDK why the OP didn't just do what you said.
VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

Thanks again. This was going while I was at work and she was at work. So it was difficult to communicate stuff. Thanks so much
