Someone got hold of my iPad 2 and put the wrong password so many times that my iPad was disabled.
Is it possible to restore the iPad? Or at least restore its data?

I know I can just put in in recovery mode, wipe everything and start afresh, but I would specifically like to get the data back. Reinstalling iOS will destroy the data. Is there a way of getting the data back?

The Apple article here states: Unless you made a backup before you forgot your passcode, there isn't a way to save the data on your device.

Did you have a backup done?
Yes. But an outdated one. I figured Apple wouldn't allow for data recovery in these circumstances. I'm inquiring about perhaps a less "official" means of recovery, something akin to jailbreaking perhaps?
