Hi, as you may guess i am one of the careless people who updated to 3.1.3 accidentally (my case is pretty funny as i was trying to install the 3.1.3 jailbroken version, i had runned sn0wbreeze and builded my custom firmware, but when i went to burn it with iTunes i messed up and installed the original one.... ... )
So this is my situation: I own an Iphone 3g 16GB, i don't need to unlock right now as I am using the original carrier, and i would like to have 3.1.3 unlocked, as i recentlly replaced the battery for an Iphone 3GS one thinking... hey... how cool am I.. this battery is going to last for ever... (you know, cos the 3GS is slightly "larger") and ended up with a battery indicator that always indicats 100% of charge left (it was pretty exiting the first 5 hours but after 15 I started to wonder.. lol).
Anyway, i have heard that 3.1.3 does fix a similar problem that appeared with the 3gs and i would like to give it a shot, that is why i prefer 3.1.3 as long as it is jailbraked.

So then, i now have the 3.1.3 firmware with the latest version of the baseband and i would like to get 3.1.3 jailbroken.
I have tried to burn the custom firmware 3.1.3 made with sn0wbreeze but i keep getting a 1600 error from itunes, so i tried iREB and that doesn't seem to work either, the application crashes but no white/red screen.....
I don't know if I should downgrade to 3.1.2 and then do the upgrading to 3.1.3 jailbroken (already tried to burn the 3.1.2 firmware too), but i don't really know how to go about it and also, is there any guaratee that iTunes will not show the same errors?

I don't know if this has anything to do with this, but i tried to get the SHSH files of whatever they are called but the probram "Umbrella" or something like that wouldn't work so i don't have them... What are they for? do I need them for anything.

Thanks a lot in advanced.

If you need an unlock, then look up the phone's original operator in this list and see whether one's available. If it's possible, then I recommend this option because it'll survive all future software updates.

nono, as i said i don't need the unlock at all, i only want to have the 3.1.3 firmware jailbreaked.
The problem is that i can not downgrade to the 3.1.2 firmware and i can neither install the jailbroken 3.1.3.
When i tell itunes to burn the 3.1.2 version in starts ok and the apple with the progress bar appears on the phone but after a while it gives me the tipical errors... 1604, 1600, 1015 etc...

It's really funny when people start these threads with "accidentally updated to 3.1.3" since that really long help thread IS ACTUALLY ENTITLED accidentally 3.1.3. The EXACT WORDS. So it's not like it would never come up on a search

I figured that you didn't need to unlock just yet, but still wanted to so that you could change operators in the future.

As noted by UngratefulNinja and Applejuiced, there are plenty of tutorials and posts about reverting to a previous OS.

so

do we need to write another tutorial for you? Sorry please understand we are getting at least 4-5 people a day that accidentally upgraded to 3.1.3  we don't mind helping but at the same time it's just damn frustrating! ;) everybody wants there one thread and the answers are all really the same. best tutorials are found on Iclarified. We will try to help if you have particular question. Other wise all we can do is give same generic answers that have been answered at least 40 times now on this site alone! and since I am not the best at spelling and grammar myself I will be nice about the threat vs thread part!

Ok, i did not have access to a mac until today, so I had only tried to downgrade on a PC. However, the downgrading did not work on a mac either.

I just want to know if there is someone out there that has actually succeded with the downgrade, so I know if it is possible or I am just wasting my time.
The reason I am asking is because i have not found any specific tutorials. Of course that there are many about jailbreking 3.1.3 and jailbreaking 3.1.2 but I haven't found any that is about jailbreking 3.1.3 after you have actually installed the original 3.1.3. It's not because I don't know how to go about it without a tutorial, it is just that i keep runing into errors (PC) or getting a crashed iphone (Mac), so i just wanna know if someone succeded, so I can either keep trying or give up and wait.
